China to Implement New Safety Standard for Dangerous Goods Transport Vehicles

2026-05-12

China will officially implement a new national safety standard for vehicles transporting dangerous goods, introducing stricter technical and safety requirements across the hazardous chemicals logistics sector. The updated regulation replaces several previous national standards and aims to improve road transportation safety and emergency response efficiency.

The new standard enhances vehicle identification and hazard communication by requiring clearer external markings, including dangerous goods information, hazard warnings, speed limits, and emergency response guidance. It also introduces updated requirements for braking systems, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring, safety accessories, and cargo securing systems.

In addition, China has introduced special provisions for battery electric vehicles used in dangerous goods transportation, although their permitted transport scope remains limited. Authorities expect the new regulation to strengthen hazardous goods transportation management, improve logistics safety, and enhance compliance standards for chemical transport operations nationwide.
